DOWSIL 732 RTV Silicone Sealant Clear 300ml – Multipurpose Silicone Adhesive
For general industrial bonding and sealing, DOWSIL 732 RTV Silicone Sealant provides a convenient one-part solution that cures at room temperature when exposed to moisture in the air. This clear multipurpose silicone sealant is designed to form a tough, flexible rubber suitable for a variety of maintenance, assembly and industrial sealing tasks.
Supplied in a 300ml cartridge, DOWSIL 732 is practical for workshops, maintenance departments, equipment manufacturers and industrial users who need a ready-to-apply silicone adhesive and sealant.
DOWSIL 732 RTV Silicone Sealant for Industrial Applications
DOWSIL 732 RTV Silicone Sealant is a general-purpose silicone adhesive/sealant intended for industrial bonding and sealing applications. Its one-part formulation eliminates the need to mix separate components before application.
The product cures through exposure to atmospheric moisture and forms a flexible rubber seal. Dow identifies general industrial sealing and bonding among its intended applications.
Clear Silicone with Non-Sag Consistency
The clear formulation is useful where a transparent or less visually prominent seal is preferred. Its non-sag, paste-like consistency helps keep the material in position during application on suitable vertical and horizontal surfaces.
Once cured, the silicone forms a tough, flexible material that can accommodate some movement within a properly designed joint. Actual adhesion and sealing performance depend on substrate preparation, joint geometry and operating conditions.
Acetoxy-Cure RTV Technology
DOWSIL 732 uses an acetoxy-cure system. It cures at room temperature when exposed to moisture in the air, gradually forming an elastomeric silicone seal.
Acetoxy silicones release acetic acid during curing. For this reason, substrate compatibility must be checked carefully, particularly for sensitive metals, concrete, cementitious materials and other surfaces that may be affected by the cure by-products. Where corrosion-sensitive substrates are involved, consider whether a compatible neutral-cure sealant is more appropriate.
Multipurpose Bonding and Sealing
DOWSIL 732 RTV Silicone Sealant can be considered for a range of general industrial applications, including:
- Industrial component bonding and sealing
- Formed-in-place gasket applications
- Bonding suitable gaskets in heating and refrigeration equipment
- Sealing selected metal and glass joints
- Appliance trim bonding
- Sealing suitable equipment covers and housings
- Protecting selected components from moisture exposure
- General maintenance and workshop sealing
Always confirm that the product is suitable for the specific substrate, process fluid, temperature and mechanical requirements before use.
Flexible Performance Across a Wide Temperature Range
Dow’s technical information states that the general DOWSIL 732 formulation remains stable and flexible from −60°C to +180°C, with short peaks up to +205°C. The black version has a different stated temperature range, so these figures should not be applied indiscriminately to every colour or product variant.
The maximum temperature rating is not a guarantee of performance under every combination of pressure, load, chemical exposure and continuous operation. Refer to the current technical data sheet for the exact variant and application conditions.
Electrical Insulation Properties
DOWSIL 732 has excellent dielectric properties, making it relevant to selected applications where a silicone material is required around electrical or electronic components.
However, suitability for an electrical assembly depends on the design, voltage, creepage and clearance requirements, substrate compatibility and applicable safety standards. Do not treat general dielectric properties as automatic approval for every electrical application.
One-Part, Ready-to-Apply Cartridge
The one-part formulation makes the product straightforward to dispense from a suitable cartridge gun. There is no separate resin and hardener to measure or mix.
For best results, surfaces should be clean and dry, and contaminants that may interfere with adhesion should be removed. Apply the sealant to the prepared surface and complete tooling before a surface skin forms.
Dow’s technical data sheet lists a typical skin-over time of approximately 7 minutes and a tack-free time of approximately 20 minutes under the specified test conditions. These times vary with humidity, temperature, bead dimensions and airflow.
Typical Mechanical Properties
The referenced technical data sheet reports a typical Shore A hardness of 25, elongation at break of 540% and tensile strength of approximately 2.3 MPa after curing under its stated laboratory conditions.
These are typical test values rather than guaranteed specifications for every production batch. They should not replace engineering validation for critical applications.
